Walter Carefoot & Sons (Construction) Ltd is a successful Construction Company who continually strive to be at the forefront of their Industry in North West England. We are a regional contractor with nearly 100 years experience of working on projects ranging from £500,000 to £10M in value. We operate under a number of Framework Agreements carrying out Partnered Projects for the Public and Private Sector, principally focusing on the Education, NHS, Commercial & Leisure Sectors of the Industry.
About the Role
This role sits at the heart of our communications and community engagement efforts. You’ll shape our public image, build our brand presence, and ensure our social value work is both impactful and measurable. You’ll work closely with the Company Directors, as well as our Pre-Construction and Operational teams, ensuring alignment across marketing and social value activity. A key part of your role will be to identify opportunities to improve and streamline our current marketing processes, bringing fresh ideas and efficiency to how we can communicate and network within the industry. You’ll be involved in projects primarily within the Education and Healthcare Sector; supporting tenders, live site activity, and community initiatives with targeted, meaningful content and engagement.
- Marketing & Social Media
- Lead the planning and delivery of digital marketing activity; strong focus on social media (LinkedIn, X).
- Create high-quality content that showcases our projects, people, values, and community involvement.
- Capture photos and videos from our live sites and events to bring our brand to life.
- Monitor performance and engagement, using analytics to inform strategy.
- Social Value Delivery
- Coordinate and deliver project-specific Social Value Action Plans (SVAPs), aligned with client goals, project targets, and community needs.
- Develop relationships with schools, charities, local authorities, and social enterprises.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, industry events, construction awards and other channels.
- Plan and support community activities: volunteering, site visits, workshops, careers events, and more.
- Implement, track, report, and evaluate social value outcomes.
- Support tender submissions with tailored social value and marketing content.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in social media management, marketing, or communications (ideally in a construction setting).
- A strong understanding of social value in construction or a related industry.
- Confident content creator — capable of writing, editing, and capturing visual media.
- Excellent communicator who can engage with stakeholders from site teams to clients and community leaders.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently across multiple projects.
- Familiarity with tender writing, CSR reporting, or marketing tools (e.g., Canva, Buffer, Mailchimp) beneficial.
