The Role
As the carer or lead carer during your shifts, you will ensure the safety and clinical stability of a child or adult with complex needs. As an example, some of your duties may include the following:
- Advanced Care: Managing tracheostomy care, BiPAP, oxygen monitoring, and oral suction.
- Nutritional Support: Managing PEG/JEG feeding and administering medication.
- Emergency Care: Monitoring for seizures and administering rescue medication.
- Family Liaison: Building trusting relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
