CARE FIRST RECRUITMENT LTD currently requires Passenger Assistants in Central Bedfordshire LOCATION: Thorn JOB TITLE: Passenger Assistant HOURS: 25 per week Maximum. Monday to Friday. Split shifts: 7.00/8.00 to 11.30 then 14.00 to 17.00 hrs JOB PURPOSE: To act as a passenger assistant, supporting and assisting service users on the journey to and from care centres/schools and other locations. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES To work as part of a large team of drivers and passenger assistants based at a centralised deport under the direction of the Principal Operations Officers and the day-to-day management of Transport Officers. To escort service users on vehicles and ensure their safety whilst getting on or off the vehicle and on the journey To assist service users onto and off the vehicle, by means of a tail-lift where necessary, this will include handling wheelchairs and other aids to daily living. This will also involve collecting and returning service users from their homes to the vehicle, thus providing a door to door service To ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of service users whilst on the vehicle. To engage in social contact as required. Together with the Driver/Passenger Assistant to ensure that all safety procedures are followed (MIDAS), together with the use of seat belts, wheelchair anchors, etc, whilst service users are on the vehicle. Liaise with care officers, teaching staff and transport supervisors in cases that cause concern or a condition that requires attention to a passengers physical and emotional needs. In emergencies to contact parents, relatives, friends, GP, the emergency services or transport supervisor To report any incident or accident concerning the vehicle or its occupants to the transport officer as soon as practically possible To wear appropriate protective To apply all policies and procedures, including those relevant to Health and Safety and Dignity at Work To assist the driver to always keep both the inside and the outside of the vehicle clean and tidy To undertake other duties and journeys as required including the collection loading and delivery of supplies and equipment.
