About the role
Join the PT&D Governance team as part of the growing Client's capability. Play a key role in strengthening how PT&D understands, governs, and uses its data. Act as a senior individual contributor with autonomy and influence across science, data, and technology. Enable improved data quality, interoperability, and AI readiness across PT&D.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Design, implement, and maintain ontologies and taxonomies to support data integration across PT&D.
- Collaborate with data scientists, chemists, and biologists to ensure ontologies meet cross-functional scientific needs.
- Translate complex scientific and technical concepts into structured data formats for data models and real-time analytics.
- Partner with information architects and technical teams across the organisation.
- Define and promote data interoperability standards including RDF, OWL, SKOS, and SHACL.
- Enable seamless data exchange across PT&D, wider AZ business functions, and external partners.
- Ensure high data quality and consistency through validation rules and ontology-driven quality checks.
- Design, build, maintain, and visualise ontologies using Protégé, RDF/GitHub, and Neo4j.
- Apply enterprise data modelling and cataloguing tools such as IDERA E/R Studio and Collibra.
- Develop and maintain taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and collections using Progress Semaphore.
- Provide training and ongoing support to maximise adoption of Client ontology tools and platforms.
- Help solve complex data challenges using ontology-based solutions.
- Support the development of knowledge graphs and graph databases within PT&D.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and align ontological solutions with business and scientific goals.
- Advocate for the use of ontologies in AI-powered drug development.
- Partner with the Data Governance Lead to evolve the ontology strategy and demonstrate value from data.
- Stay informed on industry-standard ontologies, reviewing and aligning internal frameworks accordingly.
- Keep pace with innovation in automation and large language models (LLMs), adapting approaches as responsibilities evolve.
