Data Architect is required to lead the discovery and documentation of a complex data estate, establishing a clear understanding of the current data architecture, quality, governance and migration requirements, while also supporting the procurement and design of a future replacement solution.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading discovery and documenting the current data architecture and data estate.
  • Analysing data quality, lineage, models, dependencies, interfaces and integration patterns.
  • Developing conceptual, logical and physical data models.
  • Assessing data migration, transformation and legacy system challenges.
  • Documenting data governance, ownership, stewardship and authoritative data sources.
  • Working with architects, suppliers, service owners and business stakeholders through workshops.
  • Producing data architecture artefacts to support procurement, supplier information and future solution design.

Required experience and skills

  • Extensive data architecture experience across enterprise, application and integration environments.
  • Legacy data environments and migration programmes experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, lineage, metadata and data governance.
  • Experience with data quality assessment, profiling and remediation.
  • Deep understanding of GDPR, information management and data protection requirements.
  • Experience identifying system dependencies, interfaces and integration patterns.
  • Experience using AI-enabled discovery or reverse-engineering tools will be beneficial.
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience producing architecture documentation for procurement or supplier engagement.
