In this combined HR & Office Support role, you are the key point of contact at our Buckingham office and play an important part in supporting both our people processes and day-to-day office operations.

VL Test Systems Ltd (VLT), with its UK headquarters in Buckingham, UK, is a leading supplier of high-quality commercial vehicle testing equipment. With over 60 years of experience, VLT designs, manufactures, installs, services, and calibrates equipment across the UK fleet-testing market and at all MOD sites worldwide.
Your role
While you are based in the UK, the central HR department is located in the Netherlands. This means you will work closely with Dutch HR colleagues, have frequent international contact and report directly to the HR Manager in the Netherlands. You work daily in the HR-system and ensure that employee data and HR administration are accurate and up to date. Alongside HR support, you ensure the office runs smoothly and feels welcoming — from receiving visitors to organising catering and supporting internal events. You enjoy variety, take ownership and naturally switch between HR tasks and office coordination.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Daily use of the HR-system to maintain accurate employee data and records;
- Managing personnel files, leave administration and HR overviews;
- Coordinating sickness absence administration;
- Supporting recruitment and selection activities;
- Managing the administrative side of onboarding, role changes and offboarding;
- Supporting new employee onboarding locally in the UK;
- Coordinating “care & compassion” initiatives (life events);
- Acting as the first point of contact for HR-related questions from UK employees;
- Close collaboration with and reporting to the HR Manager based in the Netherlands.
Office & facilities
- Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, employees and suppliers;
- Handling incoming phone calls, emails and post regarding office facilities;
- Managing suppliers and office-related purchases (e.g. catering, lunches);
- Booking and preparing meeting rooms and travel arrangements;
- Supporting the organisation of internal events and office gatherings.
About you
You are a proactive, organised and service-minded professional who enjoys supporting others and keeping things running smoothly. You are comfortable working independently on-site while collaborating closely with international colleagues. You keep overview, think ahead and handle confidential information with care. We are looking for someone with:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent working and thinking level;
- HR-related education is a plus;
- Experience in HR support, administration or office coordination is an advantage, but motivated starters are also welcome;
- Strong communication skills;
- A proactive, accurate and hands-on working style;
- Availability for 24–28 hours per week (for example, all mornings).
