Mae cynghorwyr yn defnyddio amrywiaeth o offer a dulliau, gan gynnwys cymorth un-i-un, sesiynau cyflogadwyedd grŵp a chyflwyniadau gan ddefnyddio technolegau digidol.

Rhaid i gynghorwyr/rhai o dan hyfforddiant fod â thrafnidiaeth addas i gyflawni eu dyletswyddau a mynychu digwyddiadau dysgu a datblygu yng Nghymru ac, o bryd i’w gilydd, y DU. Rhaid i ymgeiswyr Cynghorydd Gyrfaoedd feddu ar Ddiploma Lefel 6 FfCCh mewn Cyfarwyddyd Gyrfaoedd a Datblygiad (neu gyfwerth) a bod yn gymwys ar gyfer Cofrestr Ymarferwyr CDI. Rhaid i Gynghorwyr Gyrfaoedd dan Hyfforddiant feddu ar radd (neu gyfwerth) a byddant yn cwblhau'r Diploma Lefel 6 fel rhan o'r rôl, gyda rhywfaint o astudio annibynnol yn angenrheidiol. Mae angen gwiriad DBS manwl.
