Careers Springboard, a registered charity, helps managers, professionals and graduates to find employment. We provide all our services free of charge to our job seekers. We wish to add a Linkedin Specialist to our Linkedin team.
What difference will you make?
This is your opportunity to maximise your self-belief and demonstrate your Linkedin skills whilst helping others. Make your Linkedin skills work through job seekers and see how you can manage others to achieve job search success. The volunteer to fill this role will live in the UK and will have specialist knowledge and at least three years experience of using Linkedin. The volunteer will be willing and able to teach, direct and advise our job seekers how to create and maintain a strong profile and how to use Linkedin for their job search. In particular, the volunteer will show the job seekers how to:
- optimise their profile so that they are found by recruiters, hiring organisations and people in their network,
- use the search functionality to build their network, target employers and find relevant groups and pages,
- develop their presence on Linkedin,
- explore the Linkedin jobs board - alerts, filters etc.
What are we looking for?
The volunteer Linkedin specialist will have at least three years of proven expertise and knowledge of Linkedin. Linkedin experience will be essential. We will want to see some evidence of you helping people to enhance job seekersβ Linkedin profile and to maximise their use of Linkedin services. Please expand on your Linkedin expertise in your application to Careers Springboard. Time commitment will vary on demand and availability. One virtual Zoom session for one job seeker will last up to 45 minutes. There may be up to 1 or 2 such requests in one week. The precise time of each session will be for you to agree with the job seeker who will be referred to you by our co-ordinator. One follow-up Linkedin session may be agreed by the volunteer specialist with the job seeker. Our Linkedin volunteer will have patience and commitment to help those in need of Linkedin assistance. Some of our job seekers will be trying to build on Linkedin almost "from scratch". Others will be "more advanced" and trying to improve the effectiveness of their current use of Linkedin.
What will you be doing?
Historically based in South Buckinghamshire, we are a small, well established registered charity which has been running for 35 years. We are an entirely self-help group providing job search advice and support free of charge to unemployed professionals, managers and graduates. Applicants for this Linkedin Specialist role must be based in the UK. All activities of the role will be online, primarily on Zoom, so any location in the UK is fine. Careers Springboard meets as a group every Monday evening via Zoom when we provide our job seekers with a presentation which relates directly to job seeking. In addition, we provide 1-2-1 coaching services which can be applied for by our job seekers. Most of our success in getting our attendees back into employment is due to the very positive impact of this coaching. Since March 2020 our presentations, coaching and meetings have been virtual via Zoom, thus allowing us to widen our potential market. Our team of 8 qualified professional coaches provides 1-2-1 professional coaching (CV building, interview practice, resilience, Linkedin etc) free of charge as requested by our job seekers. The coaching usually consists of a one hour session, maybe with one or two follow-up sessions. Due to increasing requests for our job seekers we now need an additional volunteer who can help us provide additional specialist Linkedin coaching, via Zoom, to our job seekers. We seek someone with a thorough knowledge of Linkedin who is prepared to provide Linkedin one hour coaching sessions to our job seekers as requested. Our team of two Linkedin Specialist volunteers is administered by volunteer co-ordinators. Such specialist Linkedin coaching sessions would, on average, be requested / provided 1 or 2 times a week to different job seekers. Those job seekers who are pro-active in using Linkedin are usually those who secure interview opportunities. We want to encourage more of our job seekers to maximise their use of Linkedin.
