A leading organisation within the engineering and industrial services sector is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing technology function. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys both hands-on technical work and driving improvement across a complex IT environment.
You’ll take ownership of infrastructure support and development across multiple sites, playing a key part in shaping a secure, reliable, and scalable hybrid setup. The position offers excellent exposure to cloud technologies, infrastructure modernisation, and the opportunity to mentor junior team members while working alongside senior management on transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Support and maintain on-premises and cloud infrastructure (Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure).
- Deliver and manage infrastructure improvement projects and system migrations.
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune, and endpoint management tools.
- Oversee data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure (VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers).
- Implement robust security, patching, and monitoring procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues.
- Mentor and support junior members of the IT team.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an infrastructure or systems engineering position.
- In-depth understanding of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Windows Server (2016–2022).
- Strong networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VPNs, Firewalls).
- Experience with backup and DR solutions such as Veeam or Azure Backup.
- Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
- Strong troubleshooting, project delivery, and documentation skills.
- Scripting ability with PowerShell advantageous.
- Awareness of ISO 27001 or similar security standards beneficial.
- Competitive salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.
