We’re looking for a Business Development Executive who thrives in a fast-paced and competitive environment. As a Sales Development Executive, you will be responsible for hunting down new opportunities, building lasting partnerships, and driving growth across the food industry. We are looking for someone who’s not just experienced but connected – someone who knows the food industry and can leverage their network to open doors. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you’ll join a growing commercial team that combines Inside Sales and Business Development expertise. We work closely together to build strong customer relationships, drive growth, and deliver real value to our clients. As we expand, you’ll play an active role in shaping the future direction and success of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development – Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across the UK food sector.
  • Client Relationships – Build deep, trust-based partnerships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Lead Generation Support – Work alongside our call centre to support lead generation efforts, helping to identify and qualify new opportunities through strategic outreach and prospecting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Collaborate with marketing, operations, and technical teams to craft compelling proposals and ensure seamless onboarding.
  • Market Innovation – Bring fresh ideas, challenge the status quo, and help shape our go-to-market strategy.
  • Market Insights – Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to keep us one step ahead.

Your Profile

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Executive with a proven track record in B2B sales within the food industry.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in B2B sales in the food industry.
  • A well-established network of contacts in food manufacturing, retail, or food safety sectors.
  • A team-first mindset—you collaborate effectively, communicate openly, and celebrate successes together.
  • Strong executive presence with the confidence to present to senior stakeholders.
  • A strategic thinker who can translate customer needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to provide the management team with market insights on competitor activities and emerging business opportunities.
  • Contribution to shaping the company’s sales and marketing strategies, including identifying target market sectors, new opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Agile and adaptable, open to experimenting with new approaches to achieve results.
  • A self-starter who thrives on autonomy and accountability.
  • Preferably, a degree in a scientific field and experience working in a lean or agile commercial team.
  • A full, clean driving licence and the willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
What We Offer
  • A full-time workweek of 37.5 hours.
  • The opportunity to work in a growing and international organisation.
  • You will be directly employed by the organization on a permanent contract.
  • A competitive salary in line with your experience and the role.
  • Performance bonus of 10% of your gross annual salary, based on the achievement of objectives.
  • Starting with 22 days of annual leave, plus public and bank holidays, increasing with length of service up to a maximum of 27 days.
  • You work in a hybrid role, so you enjoy the flexibility of a home-based role with regular field engagement.
  • You will receive a phone, laptop, and car allowance.
