What the role is about

As our Transport Supervisor, you’ll be a conductor for keeping our business moving. From trucks and drivers to routes and schedules, you’ll be a vital pivot for people and performance – from liaising closely with a team of drivers to ensuring the work is done, reliably and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with transport, environmental, and safety regulations, including tachograph management, defect reporting, and adherence to company policies.
  • Work closely with Transport Coordinators to plan and optimise daily vehicle routes to maximise efficiency, minimise downtime, and ensure timely completion of all collections and deliveries.
  • Work with the Assistant Depot Manager to monitor driver performance and productivity, addressing underperformance through reporting, coaching, and continuous improvement, and completing accurate investigations relating to vehicle accidents and staff conduct.
  • Oversee operational standards across vehicles, sites, and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and availability of resources (e.g. waste containers).
  • Support business performance by maintaining accurate documentation, managing credit control requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations, ideally in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and optimise vehicle routing.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to manage queries, resolve issues, and maintain positive client relationships.
  • High attention to detail, particularly with documentation, reporting, and compliance standards.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise across drivers, customers, and internal teams.
  • IT proficiency, including transport systems, scheduling tools, and standard office software.

Benefits

  • Healthcare Cash Plan – dental, optical, physiotherapy, prescriptions and free 24/7 remote GP for you and your family.
  • Award‑Winning Online Wellbeing Hub – expert resources to support your mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
  • 24/7 Support – confidential employee assistance programme helpline and up to 6 free counselling sessions each year.
  • Family‑Friendly Benefits – enhanced maternity and paternity policies and life assurance.
  • Generous Holiday Allowance – 21 days (rising to 28) with flexibility to buy or sell days via the employee self‑service mobile app.
  • Attendance credits – earn credits that can be traded in for additional holiday days.
  • Cycle‑to‑Work Scheme – save money, stay fit, go green.
  • Exclusive Discounts – savings on shopping, dining, gyms, travel and entertainment.
  • Growth opportunities – access to ongoing training and development via the Learning For All platform.
  • Volunteer days – up to 2 paid volunteering days each year for causes you care about.
  • Refer‑a‑Friend Bonus – cash rewards when you successfully refer a friend.
