Wentworth Shire Council is excited to announce the recruitment of a newly created leadership position, the Manager Health, Building & Regulatory Services. Located in the far southwest of New South Wales, Wentworth Shire covers a vast 26,000 square kilometres, offering a unique blend of rural charm and riverfront living. This region provides a professional and personal landscape defined by community spirit and the Murray and Darling Rivers.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead and manage the essential functions of environmental health, building services, and regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities will range from driving a culture of service excellence in building application processing to providing strategic advice on environmental protection and legislative compliance. You will also represent Council in legal proceedings and play a key role in developing annual budgets and strategic business plans. It is a position designed for someone who wants to take full ownership of a portfolio and deliver high-quality outcomes for a growing regional community.
Responsibilities- Oversee health, building, and regulatory compliance functions
- Report directly to the General Manager
- Lead a diverse team including surveyors and regulatory officer
- Tertiary qualification in building, surveying or planning
- At least five years of industry experience
- Willingness to adapt expertise to the NSW legislative landscape
- Strong compliance focus with ability to interpret complex legislation such as the Building Code of Australia
