Liverpool City Council is seeking an Illegal Waste Services Operative to join our Waste Services team. This role focuses on the collection and management of illegally dumped waste, as well as supporting broader waste, recycling and litter services across the Liverpool Local Government Area. You will operate plant, vehicles and equipment, work in public spaces, and assist with traffic management while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Collection and disposal of illegally dumped waste
- Operation of trucks, plant and equipment associated with illegal waste removal
- Litter, recycling and general waste collection
- Traffic management and on-road safety activities
- Maintenance, inspection and cleaning of vehicles and equipment
- Accurate completion of daily worksheets and vehicle inspection reports
- Representing Council professionally when interacting with the community
You will work as part of a high-performing operational team, contributing to the cleanliness, safety and presentation of the Liverpool Local Government Area.
About You
You enjoy hands-on outdoor work and take pride in maintaining public spaces. You are safety-focused, reliable and able to work effectively in a physically demanding environment. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate their competency in the following essential areas:
- HR Drivers Licence
- NSW Dogging Licence
- General Construction WHS (White Card)
- Implement Traffic control and Implement Traffic control plans tickets (or willing to obtain within 3 months of start date)
- Experience driving trucks in residential areas
- Experience in waste removal or similar operational environments
- Ability to perform manual handling and physical work
- Knowledge of WHS requirements and safe work practices
- Strong teamwork skills and a professional approach to public-facing work
