As a Geospatial Analyst, you will play a critical role in interpreting geographical information to support various projects, initiatives, or decision-making processes. This role provides insights, creates accurate maps, and generates actionable intelligence for a wide array of applications. This individual collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to address spatial challenges, conduct spatial analysis, and deliver data-driven solutions that contribute to informed strategic planning, resource management, environmental monitoring, and other related projects.

The role requires a keen understanding of geospatial data, a strong grasp of GIS tools, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders to aid in informed decision-making and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of quality LIS/GIS data and support to system users and all clients, by providing analysis processing, interpretation, and advice on LIS/GIS data.
  • Creation, maintenance and editing of corporate LIS/GIS data held in a versioned corporate geodatabase as well as other non-corporate data.
  • Provision of quality hardcopy and online digital image and map products to internal and external clients.
  • Contribute to the administration, development, training and support for web-based user interfaces to LIS/GIS systems and LIS/GIS applications.
  • Creation, configuration and maintenance of Council's geospatial web services.
  • Development and maintenance of GIS infrastructure and GIS web applications.
  • Identify and implement improvements in LIS/GIS system.
  • Use GIS system scripting languages to develop LIS/GIS software applications.
  • Document GIS Procedures.
About You

Tertiary Qualifications in GIS, Computing Science, Information Technology or related discipline and/or equivalent demonstrated minimum 5 years' experience:

  • Proven experience in the use and support of spatial (GIS) and associated attribute geodatabase systems.
  • Experience in ArcGIS enterprise and FME is required, as well as projects/initiative leadership and management.
  • Working experience of enterprise grade geospatial applications.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in formatting and production of hardcopy and online map products.
  • Design and implementation of spatial and non-spatial databases.
  • Administration of Web-based LIS/GIS software and systems.
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of cartography and mapping principles.
  • Understanding of principles of SQL geodatabase systems and data storage.
  • Understanding of data quality control standards.
