Job Summary

Senior Accountant – Kendal, UK

Typical Day

  • Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting in compliance with UK and US GAAP.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and related payments across multiple entities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and communicate financial results to management.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, inventory valuation, and coordinate annual stock-take activities.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance processes and controls.
  • Support tax compliance activities and ensure adherence to applicable financial regulations.
  • Contribute to key finance transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation and process improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate finance environment; manufacturing industry experience a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, month-end close processes, and balance sheet management.
  • Experience with financial reporting under UK GAAP (and US GAAP).
  • Part-qualified, finalist, or fully qualified professional accounting certification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and drive continuous process improvements.
