POSITION: Fashion Designer (Sweater)

OVERVIEW:
Our client is a leading apparel manufacturer seeking for a Fashion Designer (Sweater) who will be responsible for designing and developing sweater collections in line with seasonal trends, brand aesthetics, and customer preferences. This role requires strong technical knowledge of sweater knitting techniques, yarns, and garment construction, as well as creative vision and trend awareness. The designer will work closely with the product development and production teams to ensure quality and accuracy in all products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and Development: Create original sweater designs, ensuring they align with the brand's vision, seasonal trends, and customer demands.
- Trend Analysis: Research and stay updated on current fashion trends, materials, and techniques specific to knitwear and sweater design.
- Material Selection: Source and select appropriate yarns, fibers, and materials for sweater designs, emphasizing quality, durability, and sustainability.
- Technical Specifications: Develop detailed tech packs, including sketches, measurements, and knitting instructions, to communicate design concepts clearly to the production team.
- Sample Development: Oversee the development of samples, working closely with the production team to make necessary adjustments and ensure the final product meets quality standards.
- Fit and Construction: Ensure sweater designs meet fit and construction standards by attending fittings, reviewing samples, and making adjustments as necessary.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with merchandising, marketing, and production teams to coordinate product launches and ensure cohesive seasonal collections.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on sweaters throughout the production process to maintain consistency and quality across the product line.
- Innovation: Explore and experiment with new knitting techniques, yarn blends, and sustainable practices to enhance product offerings.
PRE – REQUISITES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- 8 years of design experience, specifically in sweaters, with a strong portfolio showcasing sweater products.
- Preferrable with experience in handling Next, M&S, St. Peters, Gerry wever (German Buyer) would be an added advantage
