My client is looking to recruit a Site Operations & Warehouse Manager who will manage all elements of the warehousing and domestic transport operation within a busy Airfreight and distribution centre. This will include the overall management of the site and its facilities ensuring that all logistics solutions are fully integrated and designed to be cost efficient and improve customer service.
Our ideal candidate will have warehouse management experience within a busy airfreight import/export site. You will be working for an industry leader that values its people, and recognises and rewards hard work.
HOURS: Monday to Friday 8 am - 6 pm

THE ROLE
- Transport administration, planning and management of 3rd party carriers & Internal drivers, warehouse inbound and outbound planning and processing.
- Efficient stock management and control of goods through the warehouse, along with managing effective staff and resource management.
- Overall control of housekeeping and the maintenance of a safe working environment.
- The above will be delivered through continuous improvement initiatives in line with a kaizen environment.
- The role will also require a high level of professionalism that will include liaising with internal and external customers and ensuring that the operation meets high quality standards including the consistent attainment of standards accreditation and achieving customer KPIs and SLA requirements alongside defining and monitoring operational KPI measures in order to drive service excellence and strict cost controls.
- Responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health & Safety regulations.
- Dealing with H&S and maintenance issues within the building.
- Dealing with Quality and environmental standards for the site.
- Dealing with external contractors relating to LHR building / site issues and the Landlord.
- The duties relating to the Security Responsible person relate to this role.
DUTIES:
- Planning resources and staff in an efficient manner in order to sufficiently achieve daily operational activity and maintain performance.
- Management of all operational supervisors to ensure all operational activities such as unloading, put away, picking & Packing where applicable, and loading is completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that all relevant risk assessments and SSOW are created and maintained for all areas of their responsibility.
- Monitor and manage all relevant operational costs.
- Ensuring that all records are accurate and used in accordance with procedures and regulations.
- Liaising with external contractors for maintenance and repair of operational machinery including x ray machine and all associated security related machinery/ appliances.
- Controlling and replenishing materials as necessary for the effective operation of the Warehouse.
- To ensure efficient lines of communication are maintained between team members, operational management, the customer, other internal departments and external suppliers.
- Manage the domestic transport activity with the transport Manager and 3PL partners ensuring service and profitability is maintained at all times.
- Ensuring that staff are actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives and warehouse housekeeping to create and maintain a positive Kaizen environment.
- To complete all relevant staff disciplinary requirements in conjunction with the HR department and other relevant managers on site.
- To monitor staff performance and attendance and holidays to ensure improvements are achieved.
- Maintain all staff records and training details as well as any relevant supplier details.
- To ensure efficient lines of communication are maintained between team members, operational management, other internal departments and external suppliers.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial role within a warehouse and transport environment.
- Experience of working within an airfreight import/export environment.
- Strong management skills with ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Flexible approach to get the job done and can be relied upon to deliver consistent results.
- Tenacious, hardworking, diligent.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- AvSec and H&S Representative.
- Experience of working within budgetary guidelines.
- Confident.
- Excellent communicator.
- O Licence holder desirable but training can be provided.
