Overview: Discount Builders Merchants (Kent) Limited are seeking a qualified or experienced Accountant to join our finance team. This is a hands-on role with a broad scope of responsibilities supporting the Finance Manager and CFO across our group of companies. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple functions within the finance department. Key Responsibilities: Preparing and posting journal entries Completing VAT returns for the Group Preparation of quarterly management accounts Managing the purchase ledger, including invoice processing and supplier reconciliation Overseeing credit control, insurance of credit accounts and chasing outstanding debts Producing cash flow forecasts and monitoring variances Monthly control account reconciliation Performing bank reconciliations, including USD and Euro accounts Assisting with stock control and inventory adjustments Preparing and submitting confirmation statements Supporting with general ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required Government Surveys keeping evidential record of responses Audit file preparation Requirements: Part-qualified, qualified by experience, or fully qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) Experience in producing management accounts Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures Proficient in accounting software and Excel Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and time management Proactive team player with excellent communication skills Software Used Kerridge Commercial Systems (predominantly) Sage Hours 8am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break Monday to Friday Location Newly refurbished Head Office – Upper Floor, Lower Road, Botany Marsh, Northfleet, Kent, DA11 9BB The role is in office no opportunity for remote or hybrid working is available
