I'm working with a regionally established and well-respected civil engineering contractor based in Bristol, who are currently looking to recruit a Plant Controller to support their growing operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in plant hire or machinery management, but they are also open to trainee-level candidates who are keen to learn and grow within the industry.

The Role: As Plant Controller, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the hire and management of plant machinery across various projects, ensuring smooth communication with customers and maintaining up-to-date servicing and compliance records.

Key Duties Include:

  • Handling customer enquiries for plant and machinery hire (internal and external)
  • Scheduling delivery, collection, and maintenance of plant equipment
  • Managing service data, maintenance schedules, and breakdowns
  • Ensuring all statutory checks and safety inspections are carried out on time
  • Liaising with engineers, site teams, and suppliers
  • Supporting general administrative tasks within the plant department

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a plant controller or similar role (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good IT skills and confident handling data and documentation
