Are you an experienced architectural professional that is ready to step into a more strategic, leadership-led role? If so, we’re seeking an Associate, AD or Senior Design Manager to take the reins on multiple international projects, leading the project + design management function across RIBA Stages 0 to 4.
This is an opportunity to focus your skills where they matter most: leadership, coordination, and design management + oversight. No requirements for you to redline or review design work yourself; rather you will be a facilitator and enabler to ensure these flagship projects are delivered successfully up to tender stages!
Key Aspects of this Role:- Overseeing the full design and project management process, ensuring clarity of programme, scope, responsibilities, and timelines across multiple concurrent projects.
- Leading and mentoring a small, focused team of Design Coordinators and Junior Design Managers, helping to shape their professional growth and instilling best practices in project management.
- Acting as the key point of contact for client-side teams, proactively managing stakeholder engagement and aligning delivery with broader business and design objectives.
- Championing quality assurance, programme control, and delivery excellence, freeing up the architectural teams to focus on what they do best: designing exceptional work.
A Truly Global and Diverse Firm Offering Broad Project Exposure: This firm doesn’t pigeonhole its people. There are no siloed sector teams. Whether it’s cultural, healthcare, commercial, mixed-use, education, infrastructure or hospitality, you’ll gain exposure to an unparalleled mix of project typologies, excluding UK-based residential (for now).
The common thread: Every scheme is design-led, ambitious, and backed by top-tier clients with the appetite and resources to push the boundaries of what’s possible. This is a place where no two projects are the same, and where design managers are fully empowered to help the design teams to realise extraordinary ideas.
You won’t just lead one kind of building type. You will help shape landmark schemes that define places, identities, and innovation, working with clients and consultants who aim to achieve excellence and have the ambition to do so in equal measure.
What you will need to demonstrate in order to be considered for this post:- Minimum of 10 to 12+ years' professional experience with a proven record in successful project and design management across RIBA Stages 0 to 4 (essential).
- Background as a Senior Architect, Project Architect, or Design Manager within leading architecture or multidisciplinary studios.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously (or at least a significant large-scale project), leading internal teams and external consultants with confidence and strategic oversight.
- Excellent programme management, QA, and stakeholder engagement; you know how to deliver flagship projects globally.
- A passion for mentoring junior team members, helping build a team culture of ownership, collaboration, and successful delivery.
- Outstanding communication and people skills; you’re the one people trust to make things happen!
- A clear step into a role where your focus is on leadership, design management and team enablement.
- Opportunity to have real influence across project/design management and project delivery as well as the firm's operations, including business development and strategic planning.
- Work on some of the most exciting and high-profile international projects in the industry.
- Be surrounded by smart, driven people who care deeply about quality and impact!
