SEN Teacher (TM INSENT) Croydon, England
Career Teachers are currently working with a primary school in Croydon seeking experienced SEN teachers to start in September 2026.
The schools are based in the heart of Croydon and Surrey, taking children from Nursery to Year 6.
They are inclusive schools that value the contributions of each child and their family, and they are proud of the cultural and linguistic diversity of the school and its community.
The Role
- To provide high quality, challenging and differentiated learning experiences for a class of children with ASD within the base, which is part of the mainstream primary school.
- Teach a class of children with a diagnosis of Autism or who are deemed appropriate for the base.
- Teach all subjects in the curriculum and provide learning experiences that are relevant to the children’s needs, and in line with National Curriculum requirements.
- Assess, record and report on children’s progress and set challenging targets in line with school policy.
- Develop and deliver, record and report on individual target plans for children in class.
- Lead and mentor support staff within the class and ensure they are effective practitioners.
- To be committed and able to work within an inclusive setting.
- Further professional development in line with Performance Management and the School Development Plan.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and in-service training.
- Support the Assistant Head Teacher in the base’s day to day organisation.
- Take responsibility for leading a curriculum area within the Base e. g. core or foundation subjects.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Assist in meeting the children’s personal care needs where appropriate.
- Work co-operatively and collaboratively with other staff and members of the multi-professional team.
- Establish positive relationships with parents and carers.
- To accept specific duties to assist with the development or organisation of the base, as agreed with the Assistant Head Teacher.
- To attend, contribute and work towards leading Annual Reviews with the support of the assistant head teacher.
