We are seeking a skilled, nurturing, and dedicated Class Teacher to lead a small, specialist upper Key Stage 2 class within our mainstream primary school in Lambeth. This class consists of 10-12 pupils with a range of additional needs, including:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Speech and Language needs
- Autism (ASC)
Pupils are working approximately two years below age-related expectations and benefit from a highly personalised, therapeutic, and relationship-based approach to learning. You will be supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants, working collaboratively to provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment where pupils can thrive both academically and emotionally.
What the Role Involves:
- Delivering bespoke, highly differentiated teaching tailored to individual needs
- Creating a nurturing, predictable classroom environment that supports regulation and engagement
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, particularly those with high SEMH needs
- Supporting the integration of newly placed pupils from other settings, including those with complex SEMH profiles
- Working closely with SLT, SENCo, therapists, and external professionals
- Monitoring progress using a holistic, child-centred approach
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is a qualified teacher (QTS) with experience in KS2
- Has a strong understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH, speech & language needs, and autism
- Demonstrates a relationship-based, trauma-informed approach to behaviour and learning
- Can remain calm, resilient, and reflective in challenging situations
- Is committed to inclusive education within a mainstream setting
- Thrives as part of a collaborative team and values multi-disciplinary working
