Learning Support Assistant (SEN School)
North Leeds | Full Time | Immediate Start Fixed Term Until End of Academic Year with Potential for Permanent Employment
We are seeking a confident, engaging, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in North Leeds. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible and continuing for the remainder of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a genuine difference to their educational journey.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals. You will build positive relationships with students, encourage engagement in lessons, and promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Be confident, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting young people to succeed.
- Be proactive and able to adapt to the individual needs of students.
- Have experience working within an educational, care, or support setting (desirable).
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
- Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
- Encourage independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment.
