Career Teachers is seeking to recruit a talented Food Technology Teacher for a forward thinking, Wakefield Secondary School. The role begins after the February half-term and runs until Easter with great potential to continue through the summer term. If you are an enthusiastic and skilled Food Technology Teacher ready to join a welcoming secondary school on a long‑term supply basis, this is the perfect role for you.
You will deliver creative, practical and theory‑based lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop a love of cooking, nutrition and healthy living. This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys hands‑on learning, can maintain a safe and purposeful kitchen environment, and is passionate about supporting students of all abilities. You will work within a supportive Technology department that values innovation, high expectations, and creating lessons that build confidence and resilience in its students. Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging, practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Plan, prepare and assess learning in line with curriculum requirements
- Maintain a safe, well‑organised kitchen environment following all food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
- Support the wider Technology department and contribute to a positive school culture
- Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Attend relevant meetings, contribute to reports, and support pupils through marking and feedback
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school setting
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of the Food Technology curriculum
- Ability to create an engaging, safe and supportive learning environment
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply (we can support you with this)
