Salary: Up to Β£110 per day depending on experience

Career Teachers is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant (Level 2-3 Preferred) to work in supportive secondary schools across the Sheffield (S35, S5, S36) area. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, helping students achieve their full potential, and contributing to a positive learning environment. The schools value strong classroom support, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to student development.

Key Responsibilities of the Secondary Teaching Assistant
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across a range of subjects
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional assistance
  • Help promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement in learning
  • Assist with classroom preparation, resource organisation, and lesson activities
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEND) and additional learning requirements where required
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress and wellbeing
Requirements for the Secondary Teaching Assistant Role
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred, although relevant school-based experience will also be considered
  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence supporting behaviour management and classroom learning
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting young people
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

Applicants must demonstrate strong safeguarding knowledge and meet all safer recruitment requirements. This includes providing a valid Enhanced DBS certificate or completing a new check before starting.
