Career Teachers are currently recruiting for an inclusive secondary school in Southeast London for an experienced Safeguarding & Wellbeing Lead to join their dedicated pastoral team on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safeguarding professional who is passionate about supporting young people and making a genuine impact within a school community. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading safeguarding practices, promoting student wellbeing, and ensuring vulnerable students receive the support they need to flourish both academically and personally.

The Role

As Safeguarding & Wellbeing Lead, you will:

  • Take a lead role in safeguarding and child protection across the school.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns, referrals, and casework in line with statutory guidance.
  • Work closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies to secure positive outcomes.
  • Oversee wellbeing interventions and support programmes for vulnerable students.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records and reports.
  • Contribute to staff training and the development of a strong safeguarding culture.
  • Support attendance, behaviour, mental health, and wider pastoral initiatives were required.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in safeguarding, pastoral, social care, youth work, or education-based role.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Relevant safeguarding qualifications or training (desirable).
