Learning Support Assistant – Primary Autism Unit
Location: Lambeth, South London
Pay: £500-£550 per week
Contract: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
Working Hours: 08:30am to 16:00pm
My client is seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming primary school in Lambeth, supporting pupils within a specialist Autism Unit. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. There is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to secure a permanent position with the school.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Support pupils with both verbal and non-verbal autism, adapting communication strategies to meet individual needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teachers, SEN professionals, and therapists to deliver tailored support.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children with autism in a school, nursery, or care setting is essential.
- Experience working with children with verbal and non-verbal autism.
- Patient, caring, resilient, and able to build positive relationships with children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
