A dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Redbridge is seeking an inspirational Head of Drama to lead and further develop a thriving Drama department from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Drama practitioner or an ambitious teacher ready to take the next step into subject leadership. The successful candidate will combine strong classroom practice with a clear vision for high-quality Drama education, both in and beyond the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and inspire the Drama department across KS3-KS5
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging Drama lessons that promote creativity and progress
  • Design and implement an ambitious and inclusive Drama curriculum
  • Monitor pupil progress and raise attainment through effective assessment strategies
  • Organise extracurricular Drama opportunities, including productions and performances
  • Manage resources effectively and contribute to whole-school arts enrichment
  • Support and mentor staff within the department where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Drama education
  • Experience teaching Drama at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • The ability to lead, motivate and inspire pupils and colleagues
  • Excellent classroom management and high expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding
  • Leadership experience or the ambition and potential to lead a department
