Are you a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs? We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Special Needs Teacher to join a highly supportive SEN school in Leeds from September on a full-time, permanent basis.

About the School

The school caters for children and young people aged 3-19 years with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. This particular role is based within a mixed KS2/KS3 provision, supporting pupils with complex learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Conveniently located in an easily accessible area of Leeds, the school benefits from excellent transport links and offers free onsite parking for staff.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and external agencies
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and target setting
  • Promote pupils’ social, emotional and academic development

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
  • Experience teaching children or young people with additional learning needs, including autism
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • A patient, flexible and nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Desirable

  • Experience within an SEN school setting
  • Knowledge of communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton or AAC
  • Understanding of sensory and emotional regulation approaches
