Some support roles in financial planning become repetitive. Producing reports, processing cases, and chasing providers often lead to little involvement with clients and minimal visibility within the business. This role is different.

A well-established boutique financial planning business based just outside Edinburgh is seeking a Paraplanner / Client Relationship Manager to support a Senior Financial Adviser within a close-knit and highly professional environment. Established for over 20 years, the business focuses on genuine lifestyle financial planning, long-term client relationships, and cash flow modelling rather than transactional product sales. This is a true advice business with no significant reliance upon constant new business generation or sales-driven activity.

You will work alongside a collaborative support structure comprising of:

  • Chartered Managing Director
  • Senior Chartered Financial Adviser
  • Operations Manager
  • Client Manager
  • External paraplanning support

This is not a siloed paraplanning role where you simply write reports and disappear into the background. You will become part of the wider client journey through:

  • Suitability report writing
  • Adviser support
  • Client relationship management
  • Technical administration
  • Meeting preparation
  • Ongoing servicing support
  • Provider and platform liaison

External paraplanning support is already utilised for highly technical or overflow work, therefore, the business is open-minded regarding the seniority of report writing experience. You will, however, be comfortable within a lifestyle financial planning environment and understand the value of holistic advice and cash flow modelling.

We are ideally seeking somebody who is:

  • Diploma qualified
  • Chartered would be nice or working towards
  • Experienced within financial planning or wealth management
  • Comfortable supporting advisers and clients directly
  • Organised, proactive, and personable
  • Technically capable whilst remaining client-friendly
  • Calm under pressure with strong attention to detail
  • Seeking a long-term role within a boutique planning firm

This role may suit:

  • A paraplanner seeking broader involvement within a business
  • A client manager with technical capability
  • A financial planning administrator looking to progress technically
  • Somebody who enjoys combining technical work with client relationships

Although this is not a trainee adviser role, the successful individual will be supported towards Chartered status, which is viewed internally as a prerequisite to becoming an adviser within the firm. For somebody ambitious and relationship-led, this creates a genuine long-term career path within an established and highly respected advice business.

The business believes strongly in office culture, collaboration, and shared purpose, therefore, the office will remain the primary place of work. However, there is also recognition that life and family responsibilities matter. Rather than rigid hybrid policies or arbitrary three days in, two days out structures, the business prefers to treat people like adults and offer flexibility where genuinely needed. The focus is on trust, professionalism, and maintaining a positive team environment.

£35,000 to £60,000 negotiable depending on experience. Office-based role east of Edinburgh. Supportive and professional team culture. Chartered study support. Long-term career development potential.
