Are you a commercially driven Business Development Manager who loves creating opportunity where others don't even see it? Do you thrive in roles where you can build, shape and genuinely lead the sales direction, not just maintain someone else's playbook?
This is a rare chance to step into a UK manufacturer with a strong reputation, a high-quality product range and ambitious plans for international growth. With no existing proactive sales function in place, you will have the freedom and autonomy to define how the business shows up in the UK, Europe and the USA and the influence to make an immediate, visible impact.
If you're energised by ownership, motivated by results and excited to open new doors in technical markets, this role offers a platform to truly leave your mark.
The Opportunity
As the company's first dedicated Business Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind revenue growth. This isn't just about managing a pipeline, it's about building one from scratch, shaping the commercial strategy and turning untapped potential into long-term partnerships.
You will lead on expansion into new OEMs, distributors, refrigeration manufacturers, and major retail groups, while nurturing key strategic accounts already in place. With direct access to the MD and influence across engineering, operations, and production, you will play a central role in how the business scales, innovates and positions itself globally.
If you've ever wanted full ownership, freedom to experiment and the opportunity to build a modern, repeatable sales function your way, you'll find it here.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a UK/Europe/USA sales strategy that drives new business
- Win OEM, distributor, and major retail/end-user accounts
- Build and manage a structured sales pipeline
- Grow and support key accounts inherited from the MD
- Implement CRM discipline and accurate forecasting
- Monitor market trends and feed insights to product teams
- Introduce modern sales processes and support commercial decisions
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years BDM/sales success in engineering, technical or manufacturing
- Proven track record of winning and developing high-value accounts
- Experience selling to OEMs, distributors, or major retailers
- Knowledge of refrigeration/HVAC/cold chain (ideal)
- Commercial, technically confident, and strong with relationships
The Person
Self-driven, resilient, entrepreneurial and confident travelling across the UK with occasional trips to Europe and the USA.
