The Role
We are seeking a commercially driven Business Unit Director to take full ownership of this growth division and scale it into a profitable, repeatable international proposition. The event concept is to deliver a carefully curated Retail Sourcing Exchange (executive-level B2B) summit connecting senior retail buyers with pre-qualified manufacturers and sourcing partners. The Exchange is positioned as a strategic sourcing forum, not a traditional trade show or exhibition, designed to maximise efficiency, decision-making and ROI through structured 121 meetings, commercially focused agenda sessions and high-level networking. This is a leadership role with full commercial accountability. You will own the P&L, lead sponsor revenue generation, oversee programme production and build a scalable business unit with significant growth potential.
Responsibilities
- Own the full financial performance of the summit series
- Identify and secure aligned fashion suppliers and manufacturers
- Lead senior-level B2B sales conversations
- Set and deliver annual revenue targets across supplier participation fees, sponsorship packages and strategic partnerships
- Build and manage event budgets for London, NYC and Paris
- Forecast supplier sales and margin
- Drive profitability and scalability of the model
- Develop premium supplier participation packages with guaranteed 121 meetings
- Structure tiered sponsorship offerings
- Negotiate and close commercial agreements
- Build long-term multi-city and multi-year supplier commitments
- Oversee buyer targeting strategy (Senior Buyers, Buying Directors, Heads of Category)
- Ensure buyer audience quality is senior and decision-making level
- Full delegate acquisition responsibilities
- Build relationships with key retail HQs
- Guarantee relevant, pre-qualified 121 matching
Experience
- 2-3+ years in B2B events, sponsorship sales, fashion commercial roles or retail sourcing environments
- A fashion or manufacturing-related degree is strongly preferred. Equivalent commercial experience within the fashion retail or manufacturing sector will also be considered.
- Demonstrable P&L responsibility
- Experience securing high-value partnerships
- Evidence of building revenue from launch phase
- International event experience (advantageous)
- Manufacturing / Production Management
- Supply Chain Management
Skills & Attributes
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Confident senior-level negotiator
- Entrepreneurial and comfortable building from zero
- Highly organised with strategic vision
- Understands retail buying and sourcing dynamics
- Performance-driven and accountable
