Job purpose:

This role is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day business-as-usual support for Becrypt, managing and supporting the technology stack end to end. Working as part of a two-person System Administration team, the role involves administering, maintaining and supporting a wide range of technologies.

Principal duties and (joint) responsibilities:

General

  • Internal technical support for Becrypt
  • Including Onsite support on allocated day(s)
  • IT Service Management Tool ticket management
  • Incident Management, Change Management & Request Fulfilment
  • Workload management
  • Support of new technology projects
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the business.

User Support and Account Management

  • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts.
  • Assist with password resets, permission changes, and group memberships.
  • Provide first- and second-line support for hardware, software, and access issues.
  • Maintain accurate records in IT ticketing systems.

Endpoint Management

  • Build, configure, and deploy laptops and mobile devices according to company standards.
  • Apply OS updates, security patches, and standard software packages.
  • Monitor endpoint security (e.g., antivirus, disk encryption, device compliance).

Systems Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Monitor system health, backups, and network performance.
  • Assist in identifying and escalating system alerts or potential issues.
  • Run routine maintenance tasks (e.g., patching servers, checking logs, freeing storage).
  • Document and follow maintenance schedules under senior administrator guidance.

Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Support configuration and troubleshooting of VPN and remote access.
  • Help maintain networked printers, switches, and other office infrastructure.
  • Assist with onboarding new office equipment or connectivity setups.

Security and Compliance

  • Enforce internal IT security policies.
  • Assist with audit and compliance checks (e.g., asset tracking, access reviews).
  • Participate in incident response or vulnerability remediation activities as directed.

Documentation and Process Improvement

  • Maintain up-to-date system documentation, asset inventories, and knowledge base articles.
  • Contribute to IT procedures, onboarding guides, and internal wikis.
  • Suggest improvements to streamline support and maintenance processes.

Collaboration and Learning

  • Work closely with senior administrators and IT management to support infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in training to develop skills in systems administration, networking, and security.
  • Stay current with internal IT standards, policies, and emerging technologies

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous technical support experience advantageous
  • Personal Interest in Technology & Cyber Security
  • Understanding of basic networking
  • Understanding of threats and vulnerabilities to end user devices & servers
  • Understanding of backup solutions
  • Experience of Major Incidents
