Role Overview
A leading global technology company is seeking an experienced marketing analytics professional to join its EMEA Marketing team.
The team supports a portfolio of consumer technology products, including artificial intelligence platforms, devices and subscription-based services.
Despite the formal title, this is not a traditional machine-learning or advanced data science role.
The position is focused on digital marketing analytics, audience intelligence, campaign targeting, dashboard creation, A/B testing and turning large datasets into clear commercial recommendations.
You will be the only dedicated analyst within a team of approximately seven people.
You must therefore be confident working independently, taking ownership of the analytical agenda and advising marketing stakeholders on appropriate courses of action.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse large and complex marketing, audience and customer datasets.
- Identify which audience segments are most likely to benefit from particular products.
- Develop audience insights that inform campaign targeting, messaging and channel strategy.
- Help the marketing team understand which audiences are likely to use particular products and why.
- Analyse digital marketing performance across paid search, SEO, video, social media and other digital channels.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports and spreadsheet-based analysis.
- Design, analyse and interpret A/B tests and marketing experiments.
- Define hypotheses, test and control groups, success metrics and statistically meaningful outcomes.
- Use data to recommend whether campaigns should be scaled, adjusted or stopped.
- Identify statistical averages, trends, patterns and performance opportunities.
- Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Measure campaign impact across awareness, engagement, adoption and product usage.
- Validate data quality and accuracy before presenting findings.
- Work with EMEA marketing stakeholders to clarify business questions and define appropriate performance metrics.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A minimum of five years’ experience in marketing analytics, digital marketing analytics, audience insights or a related field.
- Strong experience analysing digital advertising and campaign performance.
- Good understanding of paid search, SEO, video marketing and social media channels.
- Experience developing audience segments and targeting strategies.
- Proven experience working with very large and complex datasets.
- Strong dashboard creation and reporting experience.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills.
- Practical experience using SQL or Python for data extraction, manipulation, validation and analysis.
- Candidates do not need to be advanced in both SQL and Python but must be confident using at least one.
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests or digital marketing experiments.
- Strong understanding of statistics, averages, trends, performance metrics and experimental results.
- Ability to turn analysis into clear commercial and marketing recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Confidence working independently as the only analyst within a small team.
- Ability to explain complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
Relevant Candidate Backgrounds Suitable candidates may come from
- Advertising or media agencies
- Financial services organisations
- Start-ups or scale-ups
- Major technology or digital platform businesses
- Previous contract roles within large technology organisations
Relevant job titles may include
- Senior Marketing Analyst
- Digital Marketing Analyst
- Audience Insights Analyst
- Marketing Intelligence Analyst
- Campaign Analytics Manager
- Performance Marketing Analyst
- Interview Process
The interview will focus on examples of work the candidate has completed previously, particularly dashboard creation, large dataset analysis, A/B testing and marketing analytics.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss
- The business or marketing problem they were solving
- The dashboard, report or analytical solution they created
- The size and complexity of the datasets involved
- The tools and data sources they used
- How they selected the relevant metrics
- Any A/B testing or experimentation they conducted
- The insights they identified
- The recommendations they made
- The impact their work had on campaign targeting, performance or business decisions
Candidates focused primarily on machine learning, advanced predictive modelling or highly technical data science are unlikely to be suitable.
