Overview: The Employee Relations Consultant will serve as a strategic partner in fostering positive employee relations and maintaining a productive, respectful, and legally compliant workplace. This role involves working closely with management and employees to resolve workplace issues, promote a positive work environment, and ensure adherence to employment laws and company policies. The consultant will also support HR initiatives, contribute to the development of employee relations programs, and assist with conflict resolution strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations Management: Act as a trusted advisor to both employees and management on employee relations issues. Investigate employee complaints, concerns, and conflicts, and provide solutions or recommendations. Advise managers on handling employee performance issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Promote open communication channels to ensure employee concerns are addressed promptly and fairly.
  • Policy Development & Compliance: Review, update, and ensure the effective implementation of employee relations policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal policies in day-to-day operations. Assist in the development and delivery of training programs related to employee relations, workplace conduct, and compliance.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve workplace disputes between employees and between employees and managers. Facilitate difficult conversations and provide guidance on conflict resolution techniques. Recommend appropriate actions to resolve disputes in a fair and balanced manner.
  • Employee Engagement: Help improve employee engagement by advising on initiatives that enhance workplace culture and job satisfaction. Support HR and leadership in identifying areas for improvement in employee relations and morale. Analyze employee feedback (e.g., surveys, exit interviews) and recommend action plans to address concerns.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and thorough records of investigations, complaints, and resolutions. Prepare and present reports on employee relations metrics and trends to senior management. Ensure that all employee relations cases are documented in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Advisory Role: Advise HR team and managers on best practices for employee relations, including communication strategies and performance management. Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and emerging trends in employee relations.
  • Employee Education & Training: Deliver training sessions to managers and employees on topics such as conflict resolution, compliance, and company policies. Provide guidance on how to address and prevent workplace issues effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4-5 min. years of experience in employee relations, HR, or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, employee rights, and workplace regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and mediation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certifications).
  • Experience with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and other HR software.
  • Bilingual (if relevant to the company’s employee base).
