We are recruiting for a HR Business Partner in a broad, hands‐on role combining operational HR delivery with strategic people initiatives, supporting a multi‐site workforce in a fast‐paced, delivery‐focused environment. The successful candidate will also lead and develop another HR professional, ensuring high‐quality HR support across the business while continuously improving processes and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted HR partner to senior leaders, providing commercially focused people advice aligned to business objectives.
- Support and influence workforce planning, organisational design, succession planning, and talent development.
- Contribute to and help deliver the HR strategy in line with company growth and operational demands.
- Use people data and insight to inform decision‐making and drive continuous improvement.
- Support the HR Operational Team with management of end‐to‐end employee relations cases, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance.
- Support managers across multiple sites with performance management, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied effectively and evolve in line with best practice and legislation.
- Partner closely with Health & Safety and operational teams, reflecting the realities of a construction environment.
- Manage, coach, and develop a small team of HR Administrators.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of core HR processes.
- Drive improvements in HR administration, systems, and reporting.
About You
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager, ideally within construction, engineering, or a similar operational, multi‐site environment.
- Strong track record of balancing strategic HR work with hands‐on operational delivery.
- Comfortable working at pace and managing competing priorities in a dynamic business.
- Motivated to lead and develop HR team members.
- Confident, pragmatic, and able to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- CIPD qualified (or working towards) is desirable.
