THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT BASED IN WALES, CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE ON SHORT NOTICE AND HAPPY TO COMMUTE TO CARDIFF 2/3 DAYS A WEEK.
Duties:- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including changes to asset locations, ownership, disposals, writeâoffs, and impairment adjustments.
- Conduct reviews of assets under construction and depreciation schedules to ensure correct allocation and valuation.
- Carry out asset verification activitiesâeither through onâsite checks or virtual meetingsâto confirm assets remain operational and appropriately recorded.
- Perform impairment assessments in line with relevant accounting standards.
- Participate in project review discussions, offering subjectâmatter expertise on appropriate accounting treatments.
- Support financial reporting processes to ensure accurate representation of financial performance and position, including oversight of subâledgers and their integration with the general ledger.
- Oversee the accurate posting of transactions within the ERP general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and opportunities to enhance process efficiency.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of internal and external audits, including contributions to statutory reporting and other regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders across the organisation to support effective financial operations.
- Prepare, document, and apply accounting judgements in accordance with internal policies and recognised accounting frameworks.
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring they are fully supported, tested, and compliant with internal control expectations.
- Provide professional financial guidance to stakeholders and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and operational excellence.
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong experience delivering highâquality accounting services in a complex environment.
- Background in capital accounting or financial oversight of capital projects (highly advantageous).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and explain complex financial concepts to both finance and nonâfinance audiences.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and their practical application.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
