CMG is partnering with a London-based technology business at the forefront of the renewable energy sector.

They are currently seeking a Financial Controller on a maternity cover contract, so candidates available at short notice will be strongly preferred.

Duties

  • Maintain and develop financial models for forecasting and planning, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including invoicing, reconciliations, payroll, and payments.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor performance against targets, and control expenditure.
  • Produce monthly management accounts and analyse financial performance.
  • Monitor project and programme budgets, including tracking different funding streams.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of all income and expenditure.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and receivables.
  • Support funding applications and reporting through budget preparation and financial analysis.
  • Lead the audit process, including preparation of schedules and liaison with auditors.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and oversee payroll and tax-related obligations.
  • Manage indirect tax reporting and submissions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and scalability.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant with relevant professional experience.
  • Experience managing end-to-end finance operations independently.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience working with multiple funding streams and financial tracking.
  • Proven experience managing audits and compliance processes.
  • Good understanding of indirect tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong systems, data analysis, and financial modelling skills.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain financial information to non-specialists.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and adaptable.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in mission-driven or funding-based organisations (desirable).
  • Exposure to process improvement and finance systems implementation (desirable).
  • Familiarity with modern accounting software (desirable).
