We are recruiting for a HR Business Partner in a broad, hands‑on role combining operational HR delivery with strategic people initiatives, supporting a multi‑site workforce in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment.

The successful candidate will also lead and develop another HR professional, ensuring high‑quality HR support across the business while continuously improving processes and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted HR partner to senior leaders, providing commercially focused people advice aligned to business objectives
  • Support and influence workforce planning, organisational design, succession planning, and talent development
  • Contribute to and help deliver the HR strategy in line with company growth and operational demands
  • Use people data and insight to inform decision‑making and drive continuous improvement

Operational HR

  • Support the HR Operational Team with management of end‑to‑end employee relations cases, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance
  • Support managers across multiple sites with performance management, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied effectively and evolve in line with best practice and legislation
  • Partner closely with Health & Safety and operational teams, reflecting the realities of a construction environment
  • Manage, coach, and develop a small team of HR Administrators
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of core HR processes
  • Drive improvements in HR administration, systems, and reporting

About You

  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager, ideally within construction, engineering, or a similar operational, multi‑site environment
  • Strong track record of balancing strategic HR work with hands‑on operational delivery
  • Comfortable working at pace and managing competing priorities in a dynamic business
  • Motivated to lead and develop HR team members
  • Confident, pragmatic, and able to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels
  • CIPD qualified (or working towards) is desirable
