CMG are excited to be working with one of the most prestigious and recognised media brands in the world who are looking to onboard an experienced Financial Accountant to join their UK Financial Controlling team. The role involves preparing consolidated and statutory financial statements, supporting external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and managing various reporting and month-end activities. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION WHICH REQUIRES NO LONGER THAN A 2 WEEKS NOTICE.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the annual external audit, providing required documentation and explanations.
- Lead the preparation of consolidated and UK statutory financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, investigate variances, and communicate findings to internal finance stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the Controlling team (onshore and offshore) and wider business functions.
- Support month-end close processes and reporting requirements.
- Review monthly balance sheets, cashflows, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare tax computations and coordinate with external tax advisors.
- Respond to ad hoc queries, delivering analysis and prioritising workloads effectively.
- Ensure compliance with internal finance policies and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, including system implementations and process improvements.
Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent), with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
- Experience from a Big 4 firm preferred.
- Strong background in preparing or auditing financial statements.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and perform under pressure.
