Consumer Communications Manager
Location: UK, London
Length: Start Date – ASAP End Date – 06/01/2026
Rate: £29.40 p/h (Inside IR35) (Approx 61K per annum + benefits)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Role Brief
The communications team is responsible for telling the companies story around the world. Whether we are briefing the press on inspiring travel trends, highlighting unique experiences led by local hosts, or explaining how travel on our platform benefits local families and communities, we are the voice of the company on a broad range of topics. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure the company remains a key player in consumer-facing media. They will also support the company’s reputation by sharing our story with a diverse audience of journalists, influencers, and community members.
A typical day in the role:
- Identify proactive press opportunities and drive national/global announcements, in support of consumer and product goals
- Develop campaigns or programs that resonate with UK and Ireland audiences to help drive demand, involving key partners, celebrities, influencers, or opinion leaders in the UK and Ireland
- Handle incoming media inquiries, leveraging tools such as data, industry research, and host & guest stories to support the community and brand
- Collaborate with local, regional, and global Communications team members, as well as key cross-functional business stakeholders, to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to communications initiatives
- Liaise with our host & guest community over media opportunities
- Develop written materials (press releases, blog posts, story pitches, Q&As, briefs, messaging guidelines, presentations, etc.)
- Develop and manage relationships with key reporters and celebrities/ influencers across the UK and Ireland
- Help manage local agencies and ensure key processes are adhered to, including campaign project management, coverage reporting, press office calendar management, and the localization of key global press materials
Essential Skills/Experience:
- 6+ years of comprehensive communications experience, either in a PR agency or an in-house communications team. Previous experience in high-performing international organizations within lifestyle, tech, internet or travel sectors is a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proven-track record of developing and executing creative consumer communications initiatives that generate positive earned media coverage, widespread awareness, and brand buzz
- Strong understanding of the UK media landscape and established relationships with key media outlets.
- Strong awareness of pop culture and the ability to craft ideas that drive editorial media coverage and social engagement
- Skilled at originating, project managing, and delivering complex, proactive press projects, ranging from research/data-driven stories and campaigns to press events, press trips, and celebrity/influencer engagements
- Adapt to collaborating with multi-functional teams in a matrix organization
- Confident in leading meetings with external partners, senior stakeholders, and media contacts
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

- Proficiency in agency management, including briefing, coordinating, and evaluating external PR agencies to ensure the delivery of impactful results
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting flexibly to change
