Location: St Helens
Salary: £50,000 – £55,500 per annum (dependent on experience, services managed and additional responsibilities)
Bonus: Additional £2,500 – £5,000 performance bonus based on occupancy and Ofsted outcomes
Hours: 37 hours per week plus additional sleep-in/on-call payments where required
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in St Helens. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate childcare professional who is committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for children and young people within a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment.
The Role: As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management, leadership and development of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the residential home in line with Ofsted regulations and quality standards
- Ensure children and young people receive high-quality care and support
- Manage, supervise and develop the staff team through regular supervisions and appraisals
- Oversee safeguarding practices, risk assessments and care planning processes
- Ensure all policies, procedures and legislative requirements are fully implemented
- Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections and internal audits
- Monitor medication administration and record keeping standards
- Manage staff performance, disciplinary and grievance procedures where required
- Chair team meetings and contribute to service development and strategic planning
- Participate in the management on-call rota
- Promote equality, diversity and anti-oppressive practice throughout the service
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within children’s residential care
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and childcare legislation
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for looked after children
Desirable:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Experience managing multiple services or complex placements
- IT skills including Word and Excel
