About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Toolmaker to join our tooling department. This is a hands-on role where you will design, manufacture, and maintain precision thermoforming tools and moulds that are vital to our production processes. The role requires strong technical expertise in machining and toolmaking, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manufacture thermoforming tools and moulds to specification using CAD software and engineering drawings.
- Operate and maintain CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other toolroom equipment.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on existing tools, ensuring performance and longevity.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues.
- Conduct quality inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
- Maintain accurate records of tool designs, modifications, and maintenance schedules.
- Keep up to date with advancements in thermoforming tooling techniques and technology.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5-10 years experience in toolmaking (thermoforming industry experience highly desirable).
- Engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion).
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, milling, and lathe operations.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Competent in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with quality management systems (BRC/ISO), lean manufacturing, HACCP, and continuous improvement methods.

- Operation of CNC/NC milling machinery.
