As part of this growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager Outbound to lead their outbound warehouse operation. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders while driving performance, productivity, and continuous improvement across the function.
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you will play a key role in delivering operational excellence and maintaining high service standards within a fast-paced distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Outbound Operations Leadership
- Take ownership of all outbound warehouse activities, including picking, packing, and dispatch operations.
- Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Oversee carrier allocation and dispatch processes to support timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Act as the senior operational lead during shifts, managing escalations and ensuring business continuity.
- Operational Efficiency & Planning
- Develop, implement, and monitor processes that improve operational efficiency, productivity, and throughput.
- Optimise labour planning and resource allocation in line with forecasted volumes and peak trading periods.
- Collaborate closely with inbound, transport, logistics, and planning teams to ensure seamless end-to-end operations.
- Performance Management & Reporting
- Monitor, analyse, and report on key operational KPIs including productivity, accuracy, and service performance.
- Use data and operational insights to identify trends, address performance gaps, and drive informed decision-making.
- Provide regular operational reporting and updates to senior leadership teams.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across the warehouse environment.
- Identify and address operational risks, compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workplace.
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance and customer experience.
- Drive process innovation and support the implementation of new ways of working.
- Contribute to wider business transformation and operational change projects.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A minimum of 5 years' senior management experience within a warehouse, distribution, or fulfilment environment.
- Strong knowledge of outbound warehouse operations and best practices.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A Diploma in Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
