A well-established UK construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the refurbishment of a chemical/industrial building in Manchester City Centre. This is a technically challenging project requiring strong leadership, excellent stakeholder management, and a robust approach to health, safety, and compliance.
You will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring it is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Overall project management of a live chemical building refurbishment
- Planning, programming, and coordination of site activities
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Ensuring strict adherence to HSE regulations, particularly within a chemical/industrial environment
- Controlling budgets, forecasting costs, and managing variations
- Liaising with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders
- Monitoring quality, progress, and risk throughout the project lifecycle
- Leading site teams and promoting a strong safety culture
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within construction or refurbishment projects
- Previous experience working on industrial, chemical, or high-risk environments is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of UK construction processes, CDM regulations, and H&S standards
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a busy city-centre location
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and relevant construction qualifications preferred
