We are looking for an experienced Transport Controller to join our busy transport team. You’ll be responsible for planning daily routes, managing drivers, and ensuring our depot and subcontracted fleet runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with transport regulations. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You’ll play a key part in keeping operations running smoothly, controlling costs, and delivering great service to our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning and coordinating daily vehicle routes to maximise efficiency and reduce costs
  • Managing depot and subcontracted fleet operations
  • Monitoring driver hours, tachographs, and legal compliance
  • Supporting drivers with briefings, debriefings, and performance management
  • Ensuring vehicles are serviced, maintained, and fully compliant with O Licence requirements
  • Monitoring fuel usage, maintenance costs, and transport KPIs
  • Handling transport requests and allocating daily workloads
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Supporting Health & Safety compliance across transport operations
  • Using transport systems and software to maintain accurate records
  • Carrying out general transport administration tasks (including weighbridge duties when required)

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in LGV transport operations
  • Strong knowledge of transport planning and routing
  • Understanding of driver hours, tachograph rules, and O Licence compliance
  • CPC qualification (or willingness to complete – training can be provided)
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions
  • A proactive, team-focused approach

Health & Safety knowledge/qualification is an advantage.
