About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Head of Technical to lead our technical function and play a pivotal role in shaping the quality and compliance of our electrical product portfolio. This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving improvements in product quality, safety, and supplier performance, while supporting the delivery of our overall business strategy. You will lead a team of Technical Managers and Executives, working closely with internal stakeholders and global suppliers to ensure all products meet regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, develop and inspire the Technical team, setting clear direction and standards
- Drive continuous improvement in product quality and perception across all categories
- Identify and implement quality improvement and cost-saving initiatives within the supply base
- Support business strategy through technical excellence and innovation
- Product Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose
- Oversee product testing, factory audits, and pre-shipment inspections
- Maintain compliance with international standards (including LVD, EMC, ERP, RoHS)
- Manage the creation and review of Technical Construction Files (TCFs)
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with OEM manufacturers and third-party testing agencies (UK and overseas)
- Monitor and report on supplier performance, driving improvements where required
- Provide clear technical direction to suppliers and internal teams, including overseas field teams
- Quality Management & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee and enhance quality management systems and processes
- Analyse performance data and produce reports against key standards
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution
- Implement best practices in testing, inspection, and quality control methodologies
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sourcing, sales, marketing, and commercial teams to deliver a cohesive approach
- Ensure technical requirements are clearly communicated and understood across the business

Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years post-qualification experience in manufacturing, product testing, or laboratory environments (electrical appliances)
- At least 3 years experience managing and developing a team
- Strong understanding of electrical product safety standards and compliance frameworks
- Experience working with third-party testing and inspection bodies
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
