We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Engineer to join a growing team based in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with experience working on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and plant equipment.

The Role

  • Maintaining a fleet of towable welfare units and telehandlers, ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Performing on-site and depot-based repairs.
  • Conducting periodic examinations (LOLER).
  • Maintaining accurate service schedules and maintenance records.
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean, presentable, and ready for hire.
  • Assisting with repairs and maintenance of the powered access fleet when required.

What to Expect

  • Based in Bolton with nationwide travel as required.
  • Most work will be carried out across the North West and Midlands.
  • Occasional overnight stays in hotels will be required.
  • Varied and hands-on role working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of 2–5 cylinder diesel engines.
  • Experience working with generators and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to carry out basic electrical and auto-electrical fault finding.
  • Proven experience building and following service and maintenance schedules.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • LOLER qualification (Telehandler category) – preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working on welfare units, telehandlers, powered access equipment, or similar plant machinery.
