We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Engineer to join a growing team based in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with experience working on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and plant equipment.
The Role
- Maintaining a fleet of towable welfare units and telehandlers, ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
- Performing on-site and depot-based repairs.
- Conducting periodic examinations (LOLER).
- Maintaining accurate service schedules and maintenance records.
- Ensuring all equipment is clean, presentable, and ready for hire.
- Assisting with repairs and maintenance of the powered access fleet when required.
What to Expect
- Based in Bolton with nationwide travel as required.
- Most work will be carried out across the North West and Midlands.
- Occasional overnight stays in hotels will be required.
- Varied and hands-on role working both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Good working knowledge of 2–5 cylinder diesel engines.
- Experience working with generators and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to carry out basic electrical and auto-electrical fault finding.
- Proven experience building and following service and maintenance schedules.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- LOLER qualification (Telehandler category) – preferred but not essential.
- Experience working on welfare units, telehandlers, powered access equipment, or similar plant machinery.
