Salary: £15.70 per hour (£32,656 basic) + Sleep-in payments (£7,200 approx.)

Contract: Full Time

Shift Pattern: Includes evenings, weekends & sleep-ins

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join a children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong senior-level residential childcare professional looking to progress within management and play a key role in the leadership and development of the home.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are consistently maintained. You will lead shifts, support staff development, oversee operational responsibilities, and act as the designated person in charge in the absence of the Registered Manager.

The successful candidate will be confident managing staffing issues, supporting inspections and external visits, and ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations and children’s home standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the overall operation of the home
  • Acting as the designated person in charge in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Leading shifts and overseeing the daily running of the service
  • Managing staffing issues, rotas, and shift coordination
  • Supporting the supervision, induction, and development of staff
  • Managing behaviours and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Supporting with Regulation 44 visits, Ofsted inspections, and external professional visits
  • Monitoring compliance, documentation, and care planning
  • Ensuring positive outcomes for young people through consistent leadership and support
  • Building positive relationships with external agencies, families, and professionals

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within residential childcare
  • Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a children’s home
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations
  • Experience leading shifts and managing teams
  • Confident managing challenging behaviours and staffing matters
  • Ability to support audits, inspections, and compliance processes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
