We are an award-winning specialist legal practice advising on urgent, serious, and complex matters that impact reputation and privacy. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to play a pivotal role in driving the firm forward and supporting the business across operations, marketing, human resources, and administration. This is a key hire for the firm and an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow with the business. The role is designed to evolve over the next ten years, offering scope to develop into a broader operations leadership position or to specialise in one of the core disciplines within the Practice Manager remit.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment, with a strong understanding of legal file management, billing, and financial processes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Human Resources: Monitoring hiring needs and overseeing recruitment processes, managing joiners and leavers, monitoring fee earner workloads and utilisation, coordinating appraisal processes, tracking paralegal, associate, and trainee hours, monitoring unbilled time and outstanding bills, analysing issues and working with senior leadership to resolve them.
  • Administrative & Operations: Overall office management, liaising with finance associates and external service providers on costs and billing, managing executive correspondence, including emails and document requests, drafting presentations, meeting notes, and executive documents, diary management and coordination of meetings, supporting strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations, building strong working relationships with partners, associates, and trainees.
  • Business Development & Marketing: Monitoring firm-wide and individual fee earner pipelines, supporting fee earners to progress actions and opportunities, managing marketing initiatives and client development activity, maintaining marketing databases, client feedback, and engagement records, organising and coordinating marketing and client events.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • Essential: Minimum of four years’ experience in a comparable office, business, or practice management role, in-depth knowledge of the legal or professional services environment, working knowledge of HR processes within an office setting, strong understanding of legal billing and financial procedures, proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal billing/procurement systems.
